22 Karat Gold Tourmaline and Diamond Cocktail Ring in Pink and White Enamel Work
This exquisite Mughal era hand-made blush red spinel and polki diamond ring with pink and white enamel is remarkable. The solitaire cushion cut spinel in the center in an enchanting gold bordered bezel setting is illustrious. The single uneven shape flat polki diamond solitaire enclosed in bordered bezel gold setting on either side of the band form the lotus flower of the ring with the added enamel work.
The ring’s broad graduating band is the artistic highlight of the ring. The band is fully enameled in pink meena, setting the first layer with lotus flower and leaf engraving on the band through the exposed thin yellow gold outlines with the white enamel and single polki diamond. This kind of Meena/enamel form is also called “Gulabi Meena,” inspired by the pink blush of roses, pink is the dominant colour in this form of the art. It’s a very intricate work by the engraver, as pink enamel forms the base with other enamel colors added as layers to elevate the ring.
The solid 22k gold is purposely used in these enamel/meena pieces, as the meenakari shows the best on gold as it has a natural sheen that sets off the colours of Meenakari beautifully. It also holds the enamel better and adds shine to it. This sensational ornate solitaire tourmaline and pink enamel ring is made to wear for special occasions.
